Afshin Hakim has more than 20 years’ experience representing startup, emerging growth, and middle market companies, serving as a trusted advisor to entrepreneurs, investors, and management teams. Afshin’s broad legal experience as a litigator, in-house general counsel of a privately held company, and outside general counsel brings a deeper level of invaluable business experience. He works with companies in a number of industries, including technology, digital and social media, internet marketing, entertainment, health care, branded consumer products, financial services, real estate and more.

Afshin began his legal career at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, where he worked as a labor and employment litigator. He later served as a corporate attorney with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, where he gained experience in corporate and transactional matters, including corporate formation and structuring, M&A transactions, public company representation, and venture financing transactions.

Subsequently, Afshin became in-house counsel for Namco Capital Group, Inc. As general counsel, Afshin was responsible for drafting and overseeing various corporate transactions, including acquisition of companies, financings, joint venture projects and real estate transactions. He also was responsible for managing litigation matters with outside counsel.

After leaving Namco Capital Group, Inc., Afshin became a Partner with Credo, LLP, where he represented various middle market companies and private equity companies in various commercial transactions. He also worked with early stage companies, venture capital firms, and high net worth individuals in connection with venture capital financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, investments, formation and structuring of entities.

In addition to serving Of Counsel to O&A, Afshin is the founder of Hakim Law Group, where he continues to represent startup, emerging growth, and middle market companies in connection with venture capital financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, investments, formation and structuring of entities, employment and real estate matters, as well as serving as outside general counsel for privately held companies.
