Ubisoft’s family of global game studios

Los Angeles, Calif. (June 26, 2018) — O&A, a venture and corporate law firm in West Los Angeles, represented Ubisoft S.A., the global videogame developer and publisher, on Ubisoft’s acquisition of Atlanta-based game development studio Blue Mammoth Games.

In a statement announcing the deal, President of Ubisoft NCSA, Laurent Detoc, stated: “The team at Blue Mammoth Games is expert at developing and running scalable, competitive, multiplayer online games, and they’ll be a great addition to Ubisoft’s network of studios.”

Dan Offner, Managing Partner at O&A, added, “It’s been our privilege to assist Ubisoft over the years as it fulfills its mission to enrich players’ lives with original and memorable interactive experiences. Blue Mammoth Games joins Ubisoft’s growing family of high-quality studios dedicated to producing innovative and compelling games.”

Founded in 2009 by Lincoln Hamilton and Matt Woomer, Blue Mammoth Games has grown into a powerhouse of massively multiplayer online games backed by a talented team of 21 employees. Following Blue Mammoth Games’ acquisition, Ubisoft anticipates an immediate impact on the company’s growth and revenue.

Most notably, Blue Mammoth Games developed and published Brawlhalla, the free-to-play fighting game for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and PlayStation 4 which has amassed more than 5 million players worldwide. Heralded as the most popular fighting game on the Steam platform, Brawlhalla joins the likes of Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, Tom Clancy’s, Far Cry, and Watch Dogs in Ubisoft’s portfolio.

Detoc noted: “With Brawhalla, we’re getting a hugely popular and highly-profitable title that aligns with our strategy of expanding our audience and providing players with long-lasting entertaining gaming experiences.”

Dan Offner, Managing Partner at O&A, and Jim Kidston, Partner at O&A, led the deal with assistance from Kevin Pasternak, Associate at O&A. This deal follows O&A’s representation of Ubisoft in the acquisition of Growtopia in Q1 of 2017 and numerous other mergers and acquisitions for Ubisoft over the past 20 years by O&A attorneys. The acquisition closed on March 1, 2018. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
