Course on “Counseling the Startup Company” covered issues related to corporate formation to exit and everything in between.
Los Angeles, Calif. (May 21, 2018) — O&A, a West Los Angeles-based corporate and commercial law firm, is pleased to announce that Jim Kidston, Partner at O&A, has fulfilled a lecturer post at University of Southern California Gould School of Law for the 2018 Spring Semester. Having received his Juris Doctor degree from USC Gould in 2007, Jim was honored to return to his alma mater as a Lecturer in Law.
Lecturing on “Counseling the Startup Company,” Jim taught a group of sixty students pursuing their Master of Laws (LLM) degree for the 2018 Spring Semester, where he brought to bear his experience and knowledge in transactional law, startups, and technology from his role at O&A. Building off of this extensive background, Jim guided his students through the process of representing a startup company – from its formation to its exit and everything in between. Exploring key topics from formation to exit, including hiring and equity compensation, intellectual property, and numerous financing structures, Jim provided his students with insight into intelligently and efficiently representing startups, entrepreneurs, and investors throughout every step of the startup life cycle.
Jim’s post as Lecturer in Law extends his longstanding relationship with his alma mater. For the past five years, Jim has participated in the USC Stevens Legal Office Hours Program, providing expert legal assistance and counseling to USC innovators and startup companies in order to help them succeed in their business endeavors. Through his involvement in both the Legal Office Hours program and his lectureship, Jim has demonstrated his dedication and commitment to USC Gould. Jim is excited to continue this relationship and looks forward to further contributing to the corporate concentration at USC Gould.
